Why we started Benjee

Introduction

Benjee was born out of firsthand experience and research. After dealing with a claim for a burst water pipe in my apartment, I became curious about the challenges adjusters face. This led to conversations with over 150 adjusters and a deeper understanding of their pain points, which inspired us to create a solution tailored to their needs.

The Problem We Saw

Independent adjusters play a critical role in the insurance process but face ongoing challenges:

Unpredictable Workload: Claim complexity and volume are highly variable.
Inefficient Staffing: Unpredictable workloads create a mismatch between adjuster supply and demand, resulting in periods of overwork or idleness.
Burnout and Talent Drain: Excessive workloads push adjusters to either switch companies or leave the profession entirely. This perpetuates the cycle of overwork and exacerbates the industry-wide talent shortage.
Aging Workforce: Many adjusters are nearing retirement, and there's limited new talent entering the field.
Low Tech Adoption: The unstructured nature of claims and the diversity of cases make it difficult for traditional software to provide comprehensive solutions.

These issues create inefficiencies, increase stress, and make it harder for adjusters to maintain sustainable careers.

The Moment of Clarity

In speaking with adjusters, we saw how their workload impacts their productivity and well-being. Many leave the industry due to burnout, exacerbating the shortage of experienced professionals.

Our goal became clear: reduce the administrative burden on adjusters so they can focus on high-value tasks, improve their efficiency, and help address the talent gap.

How Benjee Works

Our long-term goal is to automate report writing, a task that can take up to 50% of an adjuster's time. By streamlining this critical but time-consuming process, we aim to dramatically improve productivity and reduce burnout across the industry.

As a step toward this goal, we've built tools to automate key aspects of adjuster workflows:

Report Transcription and Formatting: We turn dictations into polished, ready-to-use reports, saving adjusters valuable time.
Photo Sheet Creation: Our tools simplify the process of organizing photos and adding captions, a task adjusters find especially tedious.
